Village PCSO up for national award
AN Englefield Green police officer who joined the force after a 37-year-long career in banking has been nominated for a national award.
PCSO John Cundy, who became a police officer in 2003, has been nominated for the police community support officer of the year award at the Jane's police review gala awards - an annual awards ceremony for police men and women from across the UK.
Winners will be presented with their awards by home secretary Jacqui Smith at a dinner in London on November 13, which will be hosted by BBC newsreader Hum Edwards.
PCSO Cundy said: "I am thrilled and very honoured to be nominated.
"I really enjoy my role as it gives me the opportunity to meet member of community and I feel I can make a real contribution to deterring crime and combatting antisocial behaviour."
Runnymede neighbourhood inspector Roger Nield added: "This award nomination is a terrific achievement for PCSO Cundy and one that he richly deserves for the positive impact he has made in Englefield Green.
"I hope very much PCSO Cundy will pick up the award in November."
