Englefield Green Village Residents' Association (EGVRA) has produced the 40-page village plan which calls for the post office to reopen, free parking and public toilets.

Villagers were canvassed for views at the last two summer fete's.

EGVRA's chairman, Alan Fone, said the plan was produced in response to a glut of new developments - including the 24 home cemetery estate in Blays Lane, and a plan to build 159 new homes on the formed Brunel university site - and the loss of services over the last few years, including the post office, the day centre and the village's cottage hospital.

He said: "We feel that the village has lost out over the last few years - we have had a lot of new developments built, but haven't really had anything back.We wanted to ensure it doesn't happen anymore."

The plan contains a wish list for the village, based on the replies of hundreds of residents at summer fetes in 2007 and 2008.

EGRVA hope Runnymede council will take on board their requests, and are hopeful that the plans can be part be funded by contributions from developers who want to build in the village.

Mr Fone said: "We feel that money has been spent in other areas of the Borough but that we have been forgotton."

He said they wanted to ensure that money would be spent where villagers wanted it to be, and hope that by sending the plan to all the homes in the village, they will get a clear picture of what is needed.

Runnymede council have welcomed the plan, part funding the £2,000 costs of printing and distributing the document, and have said they will consider incorporating parts of it into their Local Development Framework (LDF) - a document setting out the long term plans of the council up until 2026.

Englefield Green West councillor Hugh Meares said: "It's something we've wanted to do for a long time. We are expecting to get some guilt money in respect of the hefty receipt from the sale of the cemetery and we are expecting to get some form of community contribution from Oracle for the Brunel development."

He added: "We have got to be very careful when we think we are speaking for the community, so it is important we get feedback from residents on this."

On the village's shopping list:
• Re-open the village post office
• Restrict future housing developments
• Inject life into small businesses by bringing back free parking and public toilets
• Entry to the village from the A30 needs to improved pavements, street lighting, and Victorian-style street furniture
• Create a secondary village centre with shops in the Forest Estate
• Put pressure on Royal Holloway to provide on campus accommodation and parking

We'd like to hear from you.

This meal looks so tasty. I would really like to make this one at home by myself. However I don't know if I will make such a hard thing. I am not the best one in the kitchen. However I will try. Thanks for such a great recipe and keep posting them in the nearest future too.
