He asked if I would mention on my blog a word of warning about the season of Christmas.

This is the time of year that we should be very careful not to issue an open invation to the villians. The perfect Christmas scene of presents under the Christmass Tree the curtains drawn and, so that the villians can get a good view, we leave the lights on.

We always make sure that the front door is bolted but forget the back door. We are also very obliging by not locking the car, and leaving very nice presents for the villians on the back seat.

Distraction Robbery is a description given by the Police to the con trick which is very popular with villians this time of year.

The knock on the door reveals the caller with the big smile saying they are from the Gas Board, Police, the Council any excuse so that they can get into your house. Once in, these experts take seconds to rob and scarper. Keep the chain on the door day and night.

I thanked John for his words of wisdom, wished him and the team a Happy Christmas, and promised I would spread the word round the village.
