An ELDERLY couple celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary last week.
Jack and Dorothy Stacey from Englefield Green, have been together for 70 years and have three daughters, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The celebrations took place on Wednesday August 26, at the couples home where 40 friends and family joined the pair to remember the marriage that has lasted nearly three quarters of a century.
Mr Stacey 89 said: "Our marriage has been marvellous, we've had our little ups and downs but we keep smiling."
Mrs Stacey 88 has had mobility problems over the last few years and Mr Stacey has become her carer, he said:"I wouldn't change anything, it's a lovely life and I like looking after my wife."
The two first met working for WHSmith while they were still at school.
They married in 1939, but shortly after the wedding Mr Stacey went to fight in the Middle East for four years during World War Two.
When Mr Stacey returned he worked as an engineer in Egham and Dorothy worked at the Red Lion pub in Egham high street as a cook.
