Savill Garden keeper writes book on exotic plants
Keeper of the Gardens at Windsor Great Park, Mark Flanagan, has written a book with Tony Kirkham of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew which is published on September 21.
'Wilson's China: A centure on' follows in the footsteps of the great plant hunter and collector Ernest Henry Wilson through China. Wilson introduced more than 1,000 species of exotic plants mainly from China to the west.
The pair retraced several of Wilson's journeys to create a series of 'then and now' images, with 100 years between them, of the remote Sichuan province.
Mark and Tony will be doing a book signing at The Savill Building on October 7 at 2.30pm.
