Knock on any Door - and ask - What do you think of your MP?

Taking a wild guess, the instant reply would be Rubbish! To investigate still further as to the reason why the MP is held in such low esteem, would bring forth a whole range of reasons. The whole nation, it seems, is fed up with MP's and their expenses fiddles. We are all disgusted and demand that they are punished. The dozy worm voter has turned. After years of putting up with behaviour unbecoming, the cry is enough is enough, on your bike!
The problem is, how do you replace a bad servant with a good one? The system in place now is very silly. It is mainly based on a few top party people, without any consultation with the public, pick a candidate who says he/she is in agreement with the thoughts ideals policies etc,of the selection committee. A vote is taken by the members of the Committee and, as long as the person is thought to be "sound" the successful candidate, is advised that they have been adopted to fight the seat, at the next election. If the seat

has been in the hands of the same party for years, then the candidate is assured of serving as the next Member of Parliament for years. Teachers, Police, Clergy and other professional are tried and tested in the exam rooms for years and have to pass many tests before they are given a piece of paper stating that they are qualified, fit and proper to practice their chosen profession. There are no such tests to become a member of the
best club in London. The gold and diamond encrusted salary, expenses, pension, allowances, pay and conditions arranged by MP's themselves, are of the best. Overseas trips are mandatory, but expenses are paid. The big questions of the day are: How can we get this system changed so that terms and conditions are fair for all? How many of us, if we were MP's, would accept changes? How many would leave the gravy train, after so many years of high class travel? Very difficult choice when it comes to self sacrifice.

We'd like to hear from you.
