One car was towed away and traffic wardens have issued 100 fixed penalty notices to vehicles for obstructing roads or footpaths close to Royal Holloway, University of London.

Police have been monitoring parking in specific roads close to the college following complaints of anti-social parking since the new term began.

The police have also liaised closely with the college to indentify vehicle owners and given advice to students on alternative parking places.

Two lucky motorists escaped with only minor injuries after losing control of their vehicles in two separate incidents on icy roads last week.

The first incident took place on Monday, December 21, around 8.55am on Coldharbour Lane, Thorpe, after the driver of a black Volkswagon Passat, when the vehicle hit a patch of ice and collided with a road barrier.

Surrey Police and Runnymede Borough Council are monitoring youth activity in St Jude's Cemetery following incidents of littering and anti-social behaviour.

Cigarette packets and beer cans have been cleared away by the Sater Neighbourhood policing team who have also been increasing their patrols of the area.

The team has also requested the borough council uses its CCTV cameras in St Judes Road to monitor the park.

Planning permission was granted for the erection of a first floor rear extension with railings to form a terrace at a property in Northcroft Road.

The application, from Mrs Younger and Mr Meares was heard by Runnymede Council's Planning Committee on Wednesday (December 9) night, who voted unanimously to grant the application.

Local historians, the Egham-by-Runnymede Historical Society meet tonight (Thursday, December 10) at the Literary Institute in the High Street for a talk by Egham Museum's Richard Williams.

Mr Williams, chairman of the society, will present a talk entitled 'Egham Past concluded'.

A charity pub crawl to raise funds for Help for Heroes takes place on Friday, December 18, starting at the Barley Mow at 6pm.

The event organised by a group of footballing friends a few years ago has carried on, but now taken on a more charitable form.

Anyone is welcome to join the lads on their fundraising evening, which will finish at the Red Lion in Egham, taking in six other pubs on the way.

A pianist will be performing exerpts from classical composers at the United Church on Sunday, December 13 at 3pm.

The free concert will include 'Pictures at an Exhibition' by Mussorgsky and Sonata in A Minor by Schubert.

A Christmas concert takes place at the United Church on Saturday, December 12 at 7.30pm.

The concert, organised by The Egham Band will feature an evening of festive brass music and carols.

Emergency services attended a road traffic collision at the slip road off junction 13 of the northbound carriageway of the M25 at around 1.30pm on Saturday, December 5.

A motorcyclist left the carriageway and was in collision with a barrier. The rider was treated at the scene for minor cuts and bruises.

The road was cleared shortly after 2.40pm.
