I mean, lets face it, if we had won the honour of staging the World Cup in either 2018 or 2022. Would we have had any better "luck" than we did last time, in South africa?
How, may I ask? will our style, tactics, skills, training, outlook, professionalism, change to meet the standards that will be required within our country to meet the necessary challenge to win the Cup? The thinking pundits all advise that we are too set in our old fashioned ways, we do not take Sport seriously. Our Prime Minister actually went to Zurich to bang the drum for our team, forgetting that his Government has just slashed the schools budget for sports! How can we be taken seriously? Yes we have wonderful stadiums for our premier footballers, but don't ask about facilities for Schools and Youth Teams. The sad truth is that we don't bother with the junior side of things. We are far too busy taking care of the big boys. I wonder why super rich Qatar and Russia got the deal? I wonder if they promised to develope and run the game of Football for their youngsters? Wonderful !!
