The Virginia Water Art Society will host a summer exhibition on the green at Station Approach this Saturday (July 9) from 10am until 5pm.

The society will showcase a range of members' works in multiple media, including pottery, jewellery, glassware, photographs and paintings.

A five-day dance workshop takes place this month to mark the launch of new dance classes in the village.

Charters School of Dance is holding the workshop from July 25-29 for children aged five to 16 and of any ability. Cost for the course is £110 and it runs from 10am until 3pm each day in the Village Centre, Victoria Street.

The dance classes will launch at the same venue in September, with lessons in ballet and modern.

The Trumps Green Womens' Institute will learn about hearing dogs when it meets at the Community Centre, Beechmont Avenue, on Wednesday, December 26 at 7.45pm.

The talk will be delivered by Mr A Murphy.

A quiz night will be held at the Community Centre, Beechmont Avenue, on Saturday, January 29 at 8pm.

The event is organised by the VW Community Association. Nibbles will be provided, bring your own drinks and glasses.

A charity golf day will take place at Hoebridge Golf Centre, Woking, to raise funds for Home Start Runnymede, on Friday, October 15.

Tickets cost £35 per head, including breakfast, 18 holes, dinner and a raffle.

The Virginia Water British Legion is launching an appeal for the public to help provide parcels to frontline troops in Afghanistan.

The legion has worked supporting the Windsor-based Houshold Cavalry for the past year, sending comfort parcels of food to the soldiers.

Now the legion, which has also been running fundraisers to raise money for the regiment's casualty fund, is asking for help with donations of food products, or to help pack the boxes.

Pilates sessions begin today and continue every Thursday at the Village Centre, Victoria Street.

Beginners and improvers classes run from 10am-11am and 6pm-7pm and pregnancy and ante and post-natal classes run from 11.10am until 12pm.

Classes cost £50 for a six-week slot, payable in advance and non-refundable.

Provincial blooms in south east Asia will be the subject of a talk to green-fingered villagers at the Community Centre, Beechmont Avenue, on Wednesday, October 13.

Mr G Yates will present a talk entitled 'China Western Sichuan hunting for flowers' to the Virginia Water Horticultural Society at 7.45pm.

The 58th Horticultural, Handicraft, Cookery and Homemade Wine Annual Show takes place at the Virginia Water Community Centre, Beechmont Avenue, on Saturday, September 12 from 2pm.
