Graham and Carmen Taylor were the proud parents of Sarah Taylor, 27, when she married Thomas Cates, 27, at the parish church of St Peter and St Andrew, in Old Windsor, on Saturday, October 22.

Avril and Stanley Beach celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with family and friends at their daughter's house in Thorpe on Thursday last week (September 29).

Residents are being warned to be vigilant not only over their own properties but for those of vulnerable neighbours too following a spike in distraction burglaries.

Since April there have been 24 cases reported across Surrey, where suspects have claimed to be from the council, or other manipulative stories, to gain access to properties.

Homeowners are advised to keep the door chained and not let strangers in, and always ask to see an identity card. If in doubt, or if concerned, call the police on 999.

The Virginia Water Art Society will host a summer exhibition on the green at Station Approach this Saturday (July 9) from 10am until 5pm.

The society will showcase a range of members' works in multiple media, including pottery, jewellery, glassware, photographs and paintings.

A five-day dance workshop takes place this month to mark the launch of new dance classes in the village.

Charters School of Dance is holding the workshop from July 25-29 for children aged five to 16 and of any ability. Cost for the course is £110 and it runs from 10am until 3pm each day in the Village Centre, Victoria Street.

The dance classes will launch at the same venue in September, with lessons in ballet and modern.

Landscapes are the subject of a talk to local artists at the Community Centre, Beechmont Avenue on Wednesday, February 2 at 7.30pm.

The demonstration 'Landscapes in acrylics and pastel' will be presented to the Virginia Water Art Society be expert, Chris Forsey.

A quiz night will be held at the Community Centre, Beechmont Avenue, on Saturday (January 29) at 8pm.

The event is organised by the VW Community Association. Nibbles will be provided, bring your own drinks and glasses.

A villager has applied to build a new home in Meadow Road following the demolition of the existing house.

Mr A Lyons has applied to Runnymede Borough Council to demolish the existing house, garage, greenhouse, shed and summerhouse at Crossacres, to be replaced with a new two-storey home with detached garage and basement.

The application will come before council planners later this year.

A BODY was found in a burned out car at a business address in Egham Hythe.

Fire crews from Egham, Staines and Sunbury were called the Veolia Water site in The Causeway, at around 3.20pm on Sunday, January 9.

The body of a man, believed to be in his fifties, was found in the vehicle, but was pronounced dead at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

Detectives from Surrey Police are continuing to make enquiries into this incident but at this stage the fire is not being treated as suspicious and there is no suggestion of any third party involvement.
